Kurt’s has been a part of the Rockford community for quite a while. We opened Kurt’s Auto and Truck Center at Central and Cunningham in 1974, and we’ve been growing ever since. We opened our second location on Harrison Avenue in 1999. A year later, Chuck Kurt began sharing automotive advice on “The Doug Line” radio show on WNTA- 1330 AM. In 2007, Bob Perno, general manager of our Harrison Service Center, celebrated 30 years of service with the company.
Kurt’s owners, Chuck and Ellen Kurt, are dedicated to serving the Rockford community. Kurt’s is a local, state, and national member of the Automotive Service Association (ASA), and Chuck Kurt is a three time past president of the local ASA unit. We joined the the Rockford Chamber of Commerce in 1984, and we also have membership in the National Federation of Independent Businesses and the Heritage Kiwanis Club.
Environmental awareness is a high priority at Kurt’s as we continue to strive towards protecting our fragile environment. We recycle batteries, tires, scrap metals, paper, cardboard, antifreeze, waste oil, and oil filters to name a few. Special equipment is used to capture ozone depleting freon (CFCs) from escaping into our atmosphere. We also use special electronic equipment to service and adjust your car’s exhaust emission system and ensure that it meets federal Clean Air Standards.
Every week, Chuck Kurt shares his automotive expertise on “The Doug Line,” a local, call-in radio show hosted by long-time radio personality Doug McDuff. Tune in to 100.5 NTA FM every Tuesday morning from 9 to 9:30 am to listen to the show, or call in to ask any automotive question that’s on your mind.
